March 2019 Live Well, Work Well Newsletter
The upcoming spring season will bring warm weather and beautiful blooms, but it will also wreak havoc on 50 million Americans’ allergies. If you’re an allergy sufferer, the following tips may alleviate the effects of allergy season:
- Wash your bedding every week in hot water to help keep pollen under control.
- Reduce dust and mold by limiting the number of throw rugs in your home, and ensure the rugs you do have are washable.
- Wear an inexpensive painter’s mask and gloves when cleaning, vacuuming or painting to limit skin exposure and dust and chemical inhalation.
- Change air conditioning and heating air filters often.
Most allergy treatments are available over-the-counter, but if your allergy symptoms are severe, you may need a series of allergy shots. Contact your physician or allergist to determine which treatment option is best for you.
